Jazz Cabaret & Swing Dance 2007 a Huge Success
Thanks to Spirited Volunteers

This year’s Jazz Cabaret held March 3, was Saratoga Music Booster’s most successful yet with a whopping 573 tickets sold – a record 29% more than last year’s total. The revenue for the event was over $15,000. Students, parents and friends gathered in both the SHS large and small gyms for an evening filled with good music, dancing and food tables brimming with delectable treats. This event has increased in popularity each year and attendees young and old look forward to it and rave about the evening.

Jazz Cabaret goers enjoyed the music of the Redwood Middle School Jazz Band, SHS Jazz Bands I and II as well as the additional pleasure of listening to the SHS Concert Choir and the Men’s Choir and SHS Women’s Chorale. Again this year our special guest band was the Los Gatos-Saratoga Big Band. Event co-chair Amita Shenoi called the remodeling of the main gym foyer, “A blessing in disguise. The small gym served as our lobby....and as gigantic a space as it was to decorate, it was a great space for people to hang out. In the past the dessert buffet, coffee bar and punch fountain were in the big gym. Having them in the small gym this year was wonderful; it allowed people to mingle. It also freed up space in the big gym for an additional 10 tables.” Amita further notes that, “The Big Band’s closing number was so popular that the entire dance floor morphed into one BIG conga line!”

The Jazz Cabaret owes its success to the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to make everything perfect from the months of planning right through to the final clean up. SMB also wants to thank the generous financial supporters whose donations underwrote much of the evening’s expenses.
