SHS Marching Band A Shining Success in Gilroy... ...It's All About Teamwork!

SMB thanks Susan Hannibal, SHS Marching Band Liaison, for this article -

The SHS Marching Band and GVE did an outstanding job Saturday night at the Gilroy band competition. Although this was their second competition of the year, it was the first time they performed with the mirror props and the mirrors were a shining success.

There was incredible teamwork involved with the creation and moving of the mirrors. It started with Ron Martin and his manly construction crew, followed by Takako Hasegawa and her multi-talented sewing crew, and finished with the kind orchestra-student-in-black crew who volunteered their time to move the mirrors onto the field. The mirrors provide a dramatic backdrop to the "Mirror Images" show and are a definite must see!

That was not the only teamwork going on Saturday night. It took several people in Jeanette Wheelright's fabulous food crew to buy, prepare, cook, transport, set-up, serve and clean-up delicious food for about 250 people. There was a chaperone crew led by the raucous Jennifer and Charlie Robert, the vigilant Uniform Mom Crew who let no bangs go unclipped up, the enthusiastic cheering sea-of-red-section in the stands of family and friends lead by Sangita Seshadry and Cyndi Chang, the creative camera crew, the safe bus drivers, the supportive staff and the dedicated directors. Last, but not least, are the students who pour their heart into the hard work, long hours, and teamwork with 220 of their best friends.

Please join the band at the home football game on Friday nights or at the next band competition. Want to join in on the incredible teamwork with the marching band volunteers? It is never too late to volunteer. It is a lot of fun to see the field show from the field!
