| Jim Yowell has been teaching at Saratoga High School for the past 4 years. He is currently teaching the A.P. Music Theory class, Women’s Ensemble, Cantatre Chorale, Chamber Singers and the Concert Choir. He also directs the Saratoga Men’s Choir and Men’s Barbershop quartet. He has also organized a female Beauty Shop group. He also directs the Saratoga High School Ringers, a newly formed 4 octave hand bell choir. Jim is a graduate of the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music where he received both is Bachelors and Masters degree’s in Music Education. He has been teaching in the California public school system for over 30 years and taught at all levels including Jr. High, High School and college. Jim currently teaches voice classes at De Anza College in the evenings. Jim has served as President of the California American Choral Directors Association, Bay Area and State choral representative to the CMEA board and State of California Honor Choir Chair Person . He has conducted several regional, county, and bay area Honor Choirs. His groups have performed at three CMEA State Conventions, one National MENC Convention and two Western Division American Choral Director Conventions. It is an honor to work at Saratoga High School with such supportive colleagues as Mr. Boitz, Mr. Zarco and Ms. Verson and with such a fine music boosters group as SMB. |
